Transcription: In the course of 1938, the Jews' agonies under Nazi rule reached new depths. A perceptible upturn in their economic distress and isolation was compounded by overt violence. The events of Kristallnacht, November 9th and 10th, made the Jews' lives intolerable. They were deprived of their sense of personal security. Around 25,000 were turned in concentration camps. The events also dealt a lethal blow to the community, social and cultural infrastructure that had sustained German Jewry until then. Under these harsh circumstances, a mass outflux of Jews began in late 1938.
